Cleaning the mist nozzle system is a critical step in ensuring the continued efficient operation of the misting system. By keeping your system clean, you gain longer life, better performance and greater energy efficiency while reducing maintenance and repair costs.

Cleaning misting nozzles helps improve system performance, reduce water waste, improve air quality, extend system life, and enhance plant growth. These benefits help ensure that your misting nozzles work efficiently while being more environmentally and resource-friendly. Over time, mineral deposits, dirt, and debris can clog the nozzles, affecting their performance.

How to Clean and Fix a Clogged Misting Nozzle

Materials Needed:

Wrench or pliers (if the nozzles are removable)
A small container
White vinegar or a mild descaling solution
A soft brush or toothbrush
A pin or needle (for stubborn clogs)
Clean, lukewarm water
A cloth or paper towel

  • Turn Off the System: Ensure that the misting system is turned off and the water supply is disconnected to prevent any accidental spraying
  • Remove the Nozzles (If Applicable): Some misting nozzles can be unscrewed by hand, while others may require a wrench or pliers. Gently remove the nozzles from the misting system. If the misting system is equipped with filters, check and clean them. Filters help keep impurities out of the nozzles, so it’s important to make sure they’re clean
  • Soak in Vinegar Solution: Prepare a solution of white vinegar and water in a small container. A common ratio is one part vinegar to one part water. Submerge the nozzles in the solution and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to an hour. Vinegar helps dissolve mineral deposits.
  • Scrub Gently: After soaking, use a soft brush or toothbrush to gently scrub the nozzles. Pay attention to the tiny holes to remove any remaining residue. For stubborn clogs, you can use a pin or needle to carefully clean out the holes.
  • Rinse: Place cleaned nozzle in clean water and rinse thoroughly to ensure all residue is removed
  • Reinstalling Nozzles: Reinstall the cleaned nozzles into the spray system. Make sure to tighten the connectors to prevent water leaks
